These posters make up the projects introduction to the concept of mapping, abstraction of subject, and our place within these systems.

This interactive webpage explored the process and research of developing a map as well as the conceptual pillar of abstraction that is core to both the practice of mapping, and to this project.

7x5 inch Folding Map

A digital flip through a folding map for human experience. Each new fold is a system we live within with the scale of each being tied to our focus on the subject. Both the type and images are distorted as a reflection of our perseptions.

With the original prompt of ‘mapping everything graphically’, this self directed semesters long study developed into a series of works exploring the meaning, use, and practicality of mapping as well as traditional mappings abstraction from human experience. This lead to the production of a codified map of experience through the scaling systems we exist within. The ambition of this project is to prompt further consideration of our existence and ideally promote balance in the views life.
